Differences between Class A and Class C Motorhomes

Size

Probably the most distinguishing characteristic when it comes to Class A vs Class C motorhomes is size. Class A models will traditionally be longer, taller and wider than Class C models. This means there’s a difference in storage capacity/space and interior atmosphere of either RV. It’s best to keep in mind the amount of space you need to be comfortable when making your decision.

Interior Layout

Class A motorhomes are also designed to have a more residential atmosphere inside. This means more slide outs to increase square footage, larger kitchens and dinettes, and larger bedrooms. Class C RVs on the other hand are more favored by smaller traveling parties looking for something cozy and compact while out on the road. 

Mechanical Design

Most Class As are also traditionally designed so that the cabs flow and converge into the living rooms, while for Class Cs, the cabs and the living rooms are separated. Class C models have more of a box-like layout while Class As are comparable to commercial buses with large windshields in front. In terms of their chassis, the Class A is similarly built on a platform much like buses and semi-trucks while Class Cs are built on chassis comparable to pick-ups and box trucks.
